Round of 32: Tourney Update!
It’s been an intense couple of days with our first set of match-ups completed. Let’s take a look at some of the more notable results and see where our features landed.
South Region:
It may come as no surprise to discover that our #1 seeded Hardwood Floors completely dominated its competition. #8. Gas Fireplaces got off to a solid start in its match-up. While #9. Wood Burning Fireplaces closed the gap in the 3rd quarter, Gas Fireplaces used a full-court press to regain the lead and cruise to an easy win in the 4th.
Upset of the region: In a shocking turn of events, #15 seeded 1+ Acres topped #2 Brick Exterior in a full court comeback. Led, of course, by senior Great Outdoors who sank the game-winning, buzz-beater.
East Region:
Our #1 seed and most of our top seeds easily survived through the first round of match-ups. In fact, #9 9ft. Ceilings was the only upset at all, and it was a pretty easy guess for those of you betting in Vegas on this ;-).
Honorable Mention: #10. Breakfast Nook fought admirably, but it seems people just can’t get over the need for those granite countertops. Turns out breakfast isn’t likely to be the most important meal of the day for our voters.
Midwest Region:
Much like the East Region, the Midwest Region results were predictable; however, the #11. Media Room made an awesome comeback in the second-half of voting to squeak by the #6. Main Level Master. It seems people don’t mind a little extra exercise to get to bed when they can have an entire room dedicated to “Quarantine and Chill.”
Valiant Effort: #9. Carpet fought hard, but the trend towards LVP or laminate flooring, kept Carpet, once again, from reaching the second round of the tournament. They haven’t made it to the Sweet 16 since the late 2000s.
West Region:
Most of our top-seeds prevailed in the West as well, however, the region gave us the second-biggest upset of the tournament thus far: #13. Neighborhood Amenities started strong and kept #4. Access to Public Transportation from scoring with its tenacious defense.
Other Notable Results: 2+ Car Garage seems to be well on its way to another Final Four appearance. That feature has dominated its competition since the late 90s, and it seems there is no end in sight for its reign.
